When the Sh*T Hits the Fan!

We consider ourselves "common sense prepper's." If 2020 taught us all anything, it's that we need to be ready and prepared for the unexpected!

Common Sense Prepping!

While it is impossible to be 100% prepared for every bug out scenario, we like to be as prepared as possible. Whether it's a zombie apocalypse, a natural disaster, or a societal-changing event, being properly prepared can be the difference between life and death. We believe everyone should have plans and be prepared to bug out with little to no advanced notice.

With that being said, do you have a bug out vehicle that is ready to get you and your family out of harms way? Is it properly maintained and prepared to keep you safe and help you get out as quickly as possible? When building out our overlanding rigs, this question came to mind and we want to share with you some of the things we have put together to be Bug Out Ready!

EDC Gear. Be ready for the unexpected.

We understand that not everyone has a bug out specific vehicle; however, even your everyday driver can be outfitted and prepared to get you and your family out of an emergency situation. With that said, we made the conscious decision to purchase two reliable and capable 4x4 vehicles that serve a dual purpose of being our daily drivers and double as our bug out vehicles. There also great for getting us to and from our amazing adventures!

Some easy ways you can transform your everyday driver to a bug out vehicle is with simple everyday carry gear (EDC). This includes easy to grab and go bag and/or boxes that contain essential items needed for survival and living off-grid, when the Sh*t Hits the Fan!

Some of the EDC items that we carry in our vehicles include:

-Minimum of 4 gallon of water per vehicle (including our WaterPORT and fresh drinking water)

-First-aide Kits

-Non-perishable snacks/food

-Flashlights and/solar lights

-Extra batteries

-Heavy duty blankets

-Knives, an axe, multi-purpose tool

-More knives

-Firestarters

-More knives

-Mechanics tool set

-Tire repair kit/A can of Fix-A-Flat

-Duct Tape

-Recovery gear- (Tow Strap, Soft shackles)

-Traction boards

-Power Banks

These are all items that anyone can pack in their vehicle to be prepared and ready for an emergency situation, when you need to get out of harms way!

In addition to the EDC items we carry in both vehicles at all times, we have three hard cases packed and ready to go in our garage. It takes less than a minute to throw all of the boxes in either one of our vehicles before getting the heck out of Dodge.

Our first and most important case is our kitchen mess box. We have our pots/pans, cooking utensils, and non-perishable foods including rice, lentils, granola bars, peanut butter, oatmeal, coffee, and canned vegetables and fruits.

Our second bug out case includes our essential electronics including a RockPals 250watt power station, a 60w Solar panel, extra batteries, Solar Power lights, and battery powered lanterns.

Our third box includes our cooking stove, with extra propane tanks, a fold out table and chairs.

In addition to these three boxes we keep extra sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, an extra tent, and clothing alongside them. We keep all of these items in a clutter free area of our garage for easy and immediate loading.

Although we believe we are relatively prepared for most bug out situations, we are constantly updating our vehicles to be more prepared and capable. In addition to our vehicles, we are both becoming more mentally prepared for the possibility of a bug out situation. Although we may poke fun at the thought of a Zombie Apocalypse, no matter where you live in this world, natural disasters are a reality. While we don't live our lives in fear, we do believe we can all do more to be prepared for the unexpected.
